Initial Wetting Phenomena of MgO–SiO2 Liquid Slag on MgO–C Refractories

The initial wetting phenomena of MgO–SiO2 slag on MgO–C refractories were studied using the dispensed drop technique at 1873 K. As carbon content increased, apparent contact angle and height whereas radius decreased. change in according to was applied Cassie model. Reduced Si observed boundary between refractories.it seen that SiO2(l) + 2C(s) = Si(l) 2CO(g) main reaction.
